The Map :
It
is on the map that players spend most of their time.
That is also there that most Senate decisions will be implemented.

The map covers the whole of Europe and the Mediterranean
world as known to the Romans, from Ireland to Persia.
It is divided into various regions and sea zones.

Units moving on the map are animated sprites, so are
some game consequences, mainly warfare consequences
(pillages, sieges, combats, blockades, etc…)
- Weather
is also visually displayed on the military map (snow
in winter, storms).

There 4 main map modes : military, economic, administrative
and diplomatic. Each can be reached via a specific button
and offers relevant information.

At the bottom of the interface, there is the in-game
message area, which displays all game messages and also
allows for chat in map mode (size of area can be enlarged
or reduced at will).

Military
Mode
The
map shows the various regions and their elevations. The information
section at the bottom of the screen shows, for each region:
- the
terrain type,
- the
supply potential and existence (or not) or a road network,
- the
owner, the fortifications (for cities),
- presence
of military units and status of current operations
(pillages, sieges)

Economic
Mode
The
map shows the various regions sorted out by wealth and development
levels. The information section at the bottom of the screen
shows, for each region:
- existing
resources,

population and roads, as well as land-clearing status,
- development
level,
- owner,
cities fortifications.

Administrative
Mode
The
map shows the regions sorted out by development levels.
The information section at the bottom of the screen shows, for
each region :
- content
and revolt levels,
- population
ethnics,
- province
to which the region belongs,
- owner
and cities fortifications,
- romanization
levels, revolt risks, governor management.

Diplomatic
Mode
The
map regroups the various regions per owning nation, each with
a separate colour.
The owning nation shield is also displayed in the capital region.
The information section at the bottom of the screen shows, for
each region:
- name
of owning nation,
- degree
and type of diplomatic relations with the player,
- alliances
between nations (and genre of same).
